Dryer Master

Push the “ON” button on outside Red BCT Panel. This will “ latch in” the MCR (Main Control Relay) which verifies and completes the safety circuit of the dryer required to start the dryer. With the MCR confirmed the “Platinum +” Screen will be viewed. NOTE: If the MCR and Safety circuit cannot be confirmed you will be directed to the trouble shooting screen. (See Troubleshooting Screen)

On the Platinum + Screen you will view two options to start the dryer (Manual Startup / Automatic Startup) You can also progress to any other screen listed within the Icons along  the far left border. These Icons are defined and described below. You can access these screens from the same icons listed on all other viewed screens.

Run Screen

You can view the “Run Screen” anytime to view status of the dryer components as well as the operational outputs of the dryer. This screen can be viewed with or without dryer running. As you activate the components of the dryer via (Manual Startup or Automatic Startup) the Run Screen will operating status. NOTE: The arrow in upper right of any screen will either advance you to the next screen or return you to the previous screen. You can also exit to any of the Icon screens at any time.

Settings

You can access, view and change component settings from any applicable Icon listed on the Settings Screen.

  1. Fan System- Set low and high air pressure Warning and Alarm Levels for the operating fans. These levels are set as inches of water column. (IWC)
  2. Fill System- Set fill “ON” and fill ‘OFF” delay times. This is the time that is set to delay the start of the fill conveyor when the fill “Rotary Bindicator” calls for grain as well as the time set to delay the Stopping of the fill conveyor when the fill “Rotary Bindicator” is satisfied. This allows operational adjustment to prevent fill conveyor from stopping and starting too rapidly as well as allows the wet garner to fill to capacity. You will also find the “Out of Wet Grain Timer” on this same screen. This is the time set to monitor the length of time that the wet fill conveyor is running. If the fill “Rotary Bindicator” has not been satisfied in the set length of time then the control will assume that the fill system is out of wet grain and will activate a “Minor Alarm” sounding a horn and alerting the operator of the condition. If not resolved with “Minor Alarm “ setpoint the dryer will begin “Cooldown” and progress to shutdown.
  3. Burner Systems-

This screen shows status of the air pressure within the plenum, the status of the “Fuel Train Components” as well as the position of the “Modulating Motor” controlling fuel volume to the burner.

Here the Temperature and time setpoints are entered for operational limits of the burner. Any rectangular bordered box allows operational input. By clicking on the box you will view a pop-up calculator to enter set values.

  1. Plenum Temp Setpoints
Minimum Temp Setpoint- is the minimum Plenum temperature allowed to be set by the operator.

Maximum Temp Setpoint- is the maximum Plenum temperature allowed to be set by the operator.

Maximum Plenum Shutdown Temp- is the maximum Plenum temperature set to be allowed by the controller which will result in a burner shutdown.

Plenum Temp Band

Over Band- is the maximum degrees over the set operational Plenum Temperature that the controller will allow before burner shutdown.

Under Temp Band- is the maximum degrees under the set operational Plenum Temperature that the controller will allow before burner shutdown.

Burner Time to Achieve Setpoint- is the time set for the burner to reach the operational set Plenum Temperature before burner shutdown. NOTE: Colder outside ambient temperature may require more gas pressure to achieve set plenum temperature. If inadequate gas pressure exist then burner potentially would never reach set Plenum Temperature. This timer will alert the operator of the condition.

  • Midgrain Temperature  

Maximum Midgrain Temperature- is the Maximum grain temperature that is set to be allowed by the controller. This (RTD) Remote Thermal Device is located half way down the heat section of the dryer and imbedded in the column of grain to measure actual grain temperature.

High Midgrain Shutdown Timer- is the time allowed for the midgrain to be at or above the Maximum Midgrain Temp before burner shutdown.

  • Cooldown

Here you can select how you want to manage the cooldown time for the dryer. Operator can select for the controller to cool down to a set Grain Temperature or to cool down for a set time.

Cooldown Timer Setpoint- if time is chosen then the set time is entered in this window

Cooldown Temp- If Temperature is chosen then the set temperature is entered in the applicable pop-up window.

  • Unload Systems

This Screen allows the operator to set the unload component cleanout times and unload component discharge speed limitations.

  1. Takeaway Cleanout

Dry takeaway Cleanout Setpoint- is the set number of seconds required to clean out the customer auxiliary discharge conveyor after metering has stopped.

DM Sampler Cleanout Timer- is the set number of seconds required to clean out the DryerMaster rotary sampler. This is required so grain is not left in sampler above rotary feeder.

Minimum Discharge Setpoint- is the minimum % discharge speed allowed for the metering system. This is a VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) and there is a minimum speed that the motor is specified to run to provide adequate cooling of the motor.

Maximum Discharge Setpoint- is the maximum speed that is set for the metering system to operate. This feature allows the dryer to be set for any downstream conveyor that may not be able to handle the maximum discharge capacity of the dryer.

  • DryerMaster

This screen displays the calculated drying model settings by the DryerMaster Moisture Control Platform. (DM510) Here you can view the following:

  1. Inlet Grain Moisture and Temperature- this is wet moisture being sensed by a DM sensor located in the wet garner of the dryer
  2. Target Setpoint- This is the target discharge moisture set from the Run Screen. The target discharge moisture can also be changed or set in this screen by clicking on the white rectangular box to drop down a key pad for numeric entry.
  3. Predicted Moisture- This is the discharge moisture the DM Drying calculation has predicted based on current drying model.
  4. Outlet Grain Moisture and Temperature- This is the actual discharge moisture being sensed in the DM rotary sampler located downstream in the takeaway conveyor.

NOTE: When the Target Moisture, Predicted Moisture, and the Outlet Moisture all get within .5% of each other then the DryerMaster will show READY and is prepared to run in Automatic. The Operator will need to select DM control from the Run Screen.

  • Suggested Rate- This is the suggested rate that DM has calculated with the current drying data being used in the drying model.

  • Discharge Rate- This is the actual discharge rate that unload system is running. When running in Manual this rate is set on the Run Screen. When in Automatic this rate is set by DM.
  • Product Type- Here the operator selects the product being dried. By pressing this box a drop-down will appear with product selection.
  • System Control Mode- is the Status of the DM system.  Idle, Learning, Ready, or Automatic.
  • Discharge Control Mode- Status of Metering System. Manual or Automatic

NOTE: The arow in the upper left will advance you to the next DM Screen

  • DryerMaster Alarms

This Screens establishes Alarm levels for DM input and output values. They can all be set or changed by clicking on the rectangular boxes and enter values from the drop-down keypad. NOTE: DM will not initiate any action from these alarm setting but will alert the operator with Alarm Banners on the screen of the applicable condition.

  1. Inlet Temp

Critical High Inlet Temp- is the inlet temperature that is considered critically High and should result in an action taken by the operator. Investigate why wet grain temp has risen so high, could be issue in the wet bin. Once issue has been determined the operator can temporarily adjust this temp to get through the problem and then return setting to previous level once issue is resolved.

Warning High Inlet Temp- is the inlet temperature that is approaching a critical level and gives the operator time to investigate the issue and resolve begin to resolve.

Warning Low Inlet Temp- is the temperature of the inlet grain that is approaching a critical level and gives the operator time to investigate the issue and begin to resolve.

Critical Low Inlet Temp- is the inlet temperature that is considered critically Low and should result in an action taken by the operator. Investigate why wet grain temp has dropped so low. Could be frozen grain or approaching frozen grain in wet tank that can cause structural damage as well as grain flow problems.

  • Outlet Temp

Critical High Outlet Temp- is the high discharge temperature of the grain and should result in an action taken by the operator. Investigate why dry grain temp has risen so high, could result in a cooling or storage issue of the dry grain.

Warning High Outlet Temp- is the outlet temperature of the dry grain that is approaching a critical level and gives the operator time to investigate the issue and begin to resolve.

Warning Low Outlet Temp- is the temperature of the outlet grain that is approaching a critical level and give the operator time to investigate the issue and begin to resolve. Could be frozen grain entering the dry storage bin.

Critical Low Outlet Temp- is the discharge temperature of the grain and should result in a action taken by the operator. Investigate why discharge grain is exiting the dryer with such low temperature. Could be frozen or under dried grain with extreme outside ambient temperatures.

  • Plenum Temp

Critical High Plenum Temp- is an extremely High Plenum temperature that can result in a fire or structural damage. This alarm alerts the operator of this dangerous condition and must require immediate action by the operator. Investigate the cause of uncontrolled plenum temperature. Could be the result of a broken CV (Control Valve) which is controlled by the Modulating motor on the fuel train. This would also indicate the failure of the controller Plenum high limit or an erroneous temperature level which is set in the burner control system.

Warning High Plenum Temp- is a alert indicating that the Plenum Temperature is approaching a critical level and should be investigated as the cause.

Warning Low Plenum Temp- is an alert indicating that the Plenum temperature in the dryer has fallen or is falling off for some reason. This could be a fuel restriction or improper gas pressure settings not allowing the burner output to be able to compensate for a lower ambient temperature.

  • Inlet Moisture

Critical High Inlet Moisture- is the moisture level of the grain entering the top of the dryer. Action should be taken to investigate the cause of such high moisture over and beyond a previous level. Could be a small amount of different moisture grain or different source of grain. Action should be taken as to not potentially under dry the grain leaving the dryer.

Warning High Moisture- is the moisture level of the grain entering the dryer that is approaching a critical level. Operator should investigate any reason for this change.

Warning Low Inlet Moisture- is the moisture level of the grain entering the dryer that is approaching a level that will result in extremely overdried discharge grain with the current speed and temperature setting of the dryer.

Critical Low Inlet moisture- is the moisture level of the grain entering the dryer that is an extremely low level which will result in extremely overdried grain which can offer fire risk of a grain column.

  • Outlet Moisture

Critical High Outlet Moisture- is the moisture level of the grain discharging from the dryer and requires immediate attention from the operator.

This can result in extremely high moisture grain entering the dry storage bin that can result in

poor grain quality with long term storage. Divert the grain back to wet bin if possible until problem has been solved. Extremely dry grain can also indicate high grain temperatures of the grain in the dryer which can be a risk of fire.

Warning High Outlet Moisture- is the moisture level of the grain discharging from the dryer that is approaching a critical level. Operator should investigate the reason for the occurrence and remedy the problem. Reduction in drying temperature, increasing discharge speed may resolve the issue.

  • Discharge Rate

Critical High Discharge Rate- is the speed that the metering system is discharging grain from the dryer. Action should be taken to resolve the issue. If dryer is allowed to operate at this critical level it may result in overdried grain. Reduce the operating plenum temperature until discharge speed begins to slow. (Option to turn on Temp Reduction Mode of the Controller) This is discussed in the Burner System setting in the Service Screens)

Warning High Discharge Rate- is the speed that the metering system is running that is approaching a critical level but has not yet affected the dryer output. Operator should investigate the reason for the issue and resolve. May be a small amount of extremely dry grain that has entered the dryer and is passing trough or an indication the inlet moisture is now at a level that will result in over dried grain.

Warning Low Discharge Rate- is the speed that the metering system is running that is approaching a critical level. Operator should investigate the reason for the issue and resolve. This could indicate that the moisture level entering the dryer is extremely high and the dryer is slowing down to a point where it will begin to under dry the exiting grain. Possible increase Plenum Temperature to speed rate of drying.

Critical Low Discharge Rate- is the speed of the metering system discharging grain from the dryer. This should prompt immediate action as the metering system can no longer decrease in speed and will result in over dried grain.
